The premier said that he would not rest, not let anyone rest until the problem of load-shedding, which is plaguing the country, is resolved. He criticized the previous government for destruction of the energy sector, adding that Imran Khan-led government neither purchased fuel, nor repaired any power units.

“The previous government closed power units, which were set up by our government to generate low-cost electricity.” said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, adding that Nawaz Sharif-led government had generated surplus power, but Imran Khan-led government failed to add a single unit to the National Grid.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif added that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had utilized the low-power generation units which generated expensive electricity. “Due to this injustice, the nation has to pay the heavy price in the shape of Rs. 100 billion every month,” he added.

“All possible efforts should be made to save the people from the discomfort created by the criminal negligence of the former government” he said while directing concerned authorities to take emergency measures to reduce load-shedding in the country. He also ordered the authorities to make temporary arrangements till the provision of gas and oil.
