According to the federal education minister, the ninth and matric (class 9 and 10) exams will only be carried out for elective subjects (biology, computer science, physics and chemistry) and math.

Meanwhile, eleventh and matric (class 11 and 12) exams will include only elective subjects, which will make it easier for students to prepare for the board exams.

This year no students will be awarded grades without attempting examinations, said Shafqat Mehmood. He added that if exams are not taken, the students will no longer make any effort to study.

The decision was taken at the Inter Provincial Education Ministers Conference (IPEMC) held today under chairmanship of Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood.

Furthermore, it has been decided that ninth, matric, eleventh and intermediate (class 9, 10, 11 and 12) board exams will be held after 10 July 2021 instead of 24 June as decided earlier.

Moreover, it has been decided that matric and intermediate board exams will be held first starting 10 July and then classes 9 and 11 will take exams.

“We have also asked boards to keep some space between exams.” he said while explaining that the government is taking very possible measure to allow students to prepare for examinations.

The federal education minister added that educational institutions were allowed to open for classes 10 and 12 and now classes 9 and 11 will also commence physically to allow students to prepare their coursework.

Shafqat Mehmood also said that no teacher will be allowed to invigilate the exams without getting the coronavirus vaccine. The inoculation process for teachers and school staff is underway.

These are the final decisions regarding board exams, which have been taken keeping students concerns into considerations. There will be no changes so students are urged to prepare for the examinations, said the federal education ministers.
