The Government of Punjab is mulling to extend winter vacations due to the severe cold spell across the province.
According to ARY News, the Punjab Government may extend winter vacations for one more week from January 9 to January 15 over request from parents.
It is pertinent to mention that winter vacations in the province were suppose to end on December 31 with educational institutes reopening on January 2, however, the provincial government extended the holidays after instructions from the Lahore High Court (LHC).
On December 27, the Lahore High Court (LHC) had ordered the Government of Punjab to extend winter vacations in the province by one more week after a petition asked for the court’s intervention to control the worsening smog situation in the city.
The Government of Punjab followed the directives and extended the winter vacations from w.e.f January 2 to January 8, 2023, with schools reopening on January 9 to resume a full / normal week for all classes.
