Sindh University to Observe Holiday on August 20, 2024

JAMSHORO: A notification issued by the Services, General Administration, and Coordination Department, Government of Sindh, the University of Sindh, along with its additional campuses and model schools, will remain closed on Tuesday, August 20, 2024.

The holiday is being observed on the occasion of the Urs of Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai (R.A.), which falls on the 14th of Safar 1446 A.H.

Essential staff members, however, are required to be present at their respective duties as usual. The circular, issued on August 17, 2024, bears the signature of the University’s Registrar, Prof. Dr. Mushtaque Ali Jariko.

The university administration has ensured that this closure applies across all affiliated institutions under its domain.

Meanwhile, The Sindh government has declared a public holiday on August 20 to honor the annual Urs of the renowned Sufi poet, Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai.

The official notification confirms that Tuesday will be observed as a day off across the province.

The Urs celebrations will feature several traditional events, including the prestigious Shah Latif Literary Conference and the historic Sindhi boat racing competition known as Malakhro.
