Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry has announced that cinemas will be reopening in eight cities with high vaccination rates, including Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Quetta, Gilgit, Skardu, Mirpur, and Muzaffarabad. The cinemas in these cities will be reopening from 1 October 2021 as National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) has announced relaxation of restrictions for these eight cities as they have a high vaccination rate.

The decision was taken in a meeting of the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) chaired by the Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar. It was decided to ease restrictions in cities that have achieved the targeted vaccination rate against the COVID-19 virus.

The Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry confirmed the news on Twitter regarding cinemas reopening in these eight cities from 1 October 2021. He added that it is hoped that health authorities in Karachi and Lahore will increase their vaccination rate so cinemas can reopen in these cities as well.

Taking to Twitter, Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar said that in order to get back to normal, people need to get their jabs against the coronavirus. “The only way out of the COVID pandemic is to get high percentage of citizens vaccinated. Therefore as part of the strategy to reward citizens & cities which vaccinate, there will be higher restrictions on cities with low level of vaccination & on citizens who are not vaccinated.” said the Federal Minister.
