ARY digital’s chartbuster screenplay Jalan has finally concluded and the ending has left spectators with mixed opinions as they watched the final episode. The drama serial certainly had the audience glued to the seats for quite a long time now.
As depicted from its title, the megahit serial Jalan was a twisted tale of greed, jealousy, betrayal and discontentment. The drama had been produced by Fahad Mustafa under the banner of Big Bang entertainment, whereas Aaibas Raza served as the director.
Jalan comprised of a star-studded cast, with model turned actress Areeba habib, the charismatic Emmad Irfani, the ravishing Hajra Yamin and the emerging talent Fahad Sheikh as central cast. Moreover, the drop dead gorgeous and extremely skilled Minal Khan portrayed an exclusively negative leading role in the serial, which adds to its mounted fame both nationally and abroad.
The show started to go on air in June 2020. And, it was an instant hit at its opening phase only. With its exhilarating timeline, bold plots and nail-biting turn of events, the presentation garnered exclusive ratings and millions of views on YouTube. Hence, Jalan now ranks as one of the most watched television serials of Pakistan.
It is pertinent to mention that as rose beds have thorns too, drama serial Jalan also met with extreme negativity right when the initial teasers released. The subplot of a girl betraying her own blood and going for her brother in-law was fairly controversial and people began criticizing the serial. Therefore, as the story progressed with indecent plots, Jalan was temporarily banned by PEMRA. And, despite of being excluded twice, the serial did not face a decline in its ratings and bounced back with even higher viewership.
Jalan, the spine chilling saga of treachery and avarice, narrates the story of two sisters named Misha and Nisha. Where Misha is the ideal, innocent being, her younger sister Nisha is born with a seed of jealousy and materialism, who could go to extreme lengths to acquire whatever she desires. Nisha is engaged to her cousin Ahmer, who belongs to a middle class background, yet is head over heels after Nisha. However, Misha awaits the man of her dreams.
The story unfolds with Asfand, a full flushed and striking businessman, who falls for Misha and immediately sends a wedding proposal, which Misha’s parents accept wholeheartedly. Subsequently, the two gets married and Misha gets blessed with everything that younger Nisha ever wanted.
Misha and Asfand’s well-off lifestyle ignites fire in Nisha as she shortly plots evil tactics to destroy the duo’s relation and succeeds smoothly. Nisha also leaves Ahmer in the process, by accusing him of harassments and mental issues. Subsequently, Asfand split-ups with his wife and son and marries Nisha and Misha commits suicide by burning herself.
As the story proceeds, Ahmer becomes wealthy and affluent, and marries Areej. This turns the tables for Nisha as she goes after her ex this time, leaving Asfand for good. Nevertheless, Ahmer brushes her off, and continues his life with his spouse. Nisha on the other hand was left by herself that drives her crazy. And, at last, she meets at a tragic car accident that burns her from head to toe, snatching away all her fine features and splendor.
Nisha is last shown in a mental asylum, whereas Asfand couldn’t tolerate the regret and commits suicide. Areej and Ahmer on the other hand get a happy ending.
