Zee5 has announced its next original titled Ek Jhooti Love story starring very talented heartthrob Bilal Abbas Khan and the fascinating Madiha Imam is scheduled to premiere from 30th October.
The announcement comes just months after the Indian video on demand service, Zee5, enjoyed roaring success through Pakistani web series Churails.

Subsequent to Zindagi Original’s Pakistani series Churails, which garnered massive accolades, Zee5 has announced its next social comedy Ek Jhooti Love Story. Second of the 5 Pakistani originals, the series has been filmed in the port city of Pakistan and includes some veteran figures from Lollywood.

Approaching web series Ek Jhooti Love Story is a family friendly tale of Salma and Sohail, directed by the legendary Mehreeb Jabbar. Mehreen is an old-timer, widely acclaimed for blockbuster serials like Mera Naam Yousuf Hai, Jackson Heights, Daam, Doraha, aur zindagi badalti hai and Malal to name a few.
Talking about her recent presentation for Zee5, Mehreen revealed:
It deals with societal pressure and expectations, love in the age of internet etc. And, while dealing with these subjects, the tone and feel of the series is light and easy to watch. This was a genre that neither of us had really done so it was a challenge to get the tone just right.
Here to mention, this is not the first time that Mehreen extended her lengths of artwork to neighborhood platforms. Talking about her previous experience with the streaming giant Zee5, Mehreen stated:
I have worked with Zee Zindagi on Lala Begum before so I knew the team well. They have always been very encouraging to showcase Pakistani stories and talent across the border and it was a relationship of mutual respect and creative collaboration.”
Moreover, the notable writer Umaira Ahmed, who previously gave us gems like Alif, Shehr-e Zaat, Zindagi gulzaar hai and Durre Shehwaar has penned down the script of this beautiful project.
Ek Jhooti Love Story is a very hearty, relatable and wholesome show that goes beyond a love story. This story reflects the simplicities of life, everyday households, family beyond and much more. It highlights our mindsets of chasing the ideal when it comes to finding a partner. It has been a delightful journey collaborating with Zee5 and Motion content group on this project.

The immensely popular and celebrated young actor, Bilal Abbas Khan who recently won rave reviews with portrayal of Abdullah in megahit series Pyaar Ke Sadqay, will illustrate the male lead of Sohail, in Ek Jhooti Love Story. Bilal is a remarkably gifted artist, known to enthrall the audience in whatever epitome he adopts. Some of Bilal’s widely held TV shows include, Cheekh, Qurbaan, Bala and O Rangreza.
Talking about his character in Ek Jhooti Love Story, Bilal stated,
“I’ll be playing role of a typical Karachi boy with his usual dreams and aspirations. Just the normalcy of it is fun to explore as an actor and of course a new learning experience to me.”
In addition, the female central character of Salma has been brought to life by the mesmerizing Madiha Imam. Madiha is not a new name to the showbiz. The actress has established a glittering future with her applauded acting in renowned serials like Muqaddar, Dushman-e-jaan, Dhaani and Mera Rab Waris.
