‘American horror story’ actor Finn Wittrock is all set to join the DC universe with the forthcoming drama series Green Lantern on HBO Max. Booked in for the leading role of Guy Gardner, the actor is the first declared cast of the big-budget drama. However, a huge star studded group is in negotiations with the production, including the fan-favorite Alan Scott expected to be announced shortly.
Peter Finn Wittrock is an American actor and screenwriter, acclaimed widely for his acting aptitudes. The actor stepped into the world of acting with guest roles in several television shows, but, soon switched to films and theatres.
Moreover, in 2014, Peter gained critical recognition for his roles in the films ‘The Normal Heart, Noah,’ and ‘Unbroken.’ Later, the actor appeared as central in renowned American Horror Story series, for which he earned massive praises, followed with an Emmy nomination. Since then, Finn has appeared in dozens of film and television series, and has bagged multiple awards and nominations. Some of his feature credits include “American Crime Story,” “The Big Short,” “The Last Black Man in San Francisco,” “If Beale Street Could Talk,” and Netflix thriller ‘Ratched.” Other than that, Finn Wittrock will next be seen opposite Amanda Seyfried in Sony feature “A Mouthful of Air” and Ben Affleck vehicle “Deep Water.”
Additionally, although the actor has quiet a busy future ahead, Finn wittrock has signed up for another adventure, as he gets roped in by Greg Berlanti’s for his upcoming ‘Green Lantern.’
Finn Wittrock will embrace the key role of a Guy Gardner in HBO Max’s Green Lantern. In recent decades, the character has been portrayed in the comics as a parody of a militant, macho American hero. The character is described as “a hulking mass of masculinity, and, as rendered in the comics, an embodiment of 1980s hyper-patriotism.” And, yet, the actor is somehow likeable.
Penned down by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and Seth Grahame-Smith, the Green Lantern is being executive produced by DC’s Geoff Johns, Berlanti Productions partner Sarah Schechter and head of TV David Madden alongside David Katzenberg and others.
The drama is one of multiple DC Comics titles in the works for WarnerMedia-backed HBO Max and as per sources, will be the most expensive show that Berlanti has produced in his career.
Furthermore, besides Finn Wittrock, as Guy Gardner, the ‘Green Lantern’ will also feature Alan Scott, Jessica Cruz, Simon Baz, and a new Lantern named Bree Jarta.
The official show descriptions read,
“Green Lantern reinvents the classic DC property through a story spanning decades and galaxies, beginning on Earth in 1941 with the very first Green Lantern, secretly gay FBI agent Alan Scott, and 1984, with cocky alpha male Guy Gardner and half-alien Bree Jarta. They’ll be joined by a multitude of other Lanterns — from comic book favorites to never-before-seen heroes.”
The drama is to begin filming this year, and although no official release date is expected anytime soon, HBO Max has ordered 10 one-hour episodes of the impending adventure Green Lantern.
