The announcement came via a video on the official Miss Universe YouTube channel this past Saturday.

Noor Xarmina, a 29-year-old venture capitalist turned actor, brings a unique blend of biology and business education to her new role. Originally from Islamabad, she recently returned to Pakistan, bringing with her a vision of positive change.

In her announcement video, Xarmina expressed her commitment to making a difference in Pakistan. “I want to be an agent for positive change in two respects. The first is for our country. Pakistan is scarcely represented internationally across so many industries, and I want to enhance our representation on an international stage,” she said.

She continued, “In the second respect, I want to have change for women in our country. Pakistan needs strong female leaders who can mobilize its women and empower them to create positive change in society.”

When asked about the country’s support for Xarmina’s participation in international beauty pageants, Pakistani Information Minister Ataullah Tarar commented, “If Xarmina has played a role in projecting Pakistan’s soft image, then a discussion can be held on this.” He added, “I do not know about that woman, what background she has and what professional achievements she has before this, they can be looked into. If she has played her role for Pakistan’s image, Pakistan’s soft image, and Pakistan’s development, then discussion can be held on this.”

Last year, Erica Rabin became the first Pakistani woman to be crowned Miss Universe Pakistan. This marked a historic moment as no woman from Muslim-majority Pakistan had ever participated in the Miss Universe pageant before.

Miss Universe Pakistan is a national beauty pageant franchise organized by the Yugen Group of Dubai.

The franchise aims to select a representative from Pakistan for the Miss Universe pageant, showcasing the talent and potential of Pakistani women on an international stage.

Farhan Abro

Hello! My name is Farhan Abro, and I'm based here in Islamabad. My journey in Pakistan's digital media really kicked off when I founded INCPak back in 2012. We built it from the ground up, driven by an entrepreneurial spirit, to be a trusted voice for independent journalism. But while media is a big part of who I am, I'm also shaped by a fascinating mix of other passions. I'm deeply into automotive, which gives me a technical edge, but I also find my artistic expression through landscape photography and music. And I'm always diving into the exciting world of Artificial Intelligence. Bringing all these different worlds together the technical, the creative, the journalistic, and the entrepreneurial—it really colors how I see things and approach every project. It gives me a distinct perspective that I try to bring to everything I share
