Netflix has finally unveiled the official, action packed trailer for its highly anticipated ‘The Witcher season 2’, returning after two whole years of its debut season. Starring the enigmatic Henry Cavill as the titular Geralt of Rivia, the forthcoming installment in the Witcher franchise will premiere on December 17th, 2021.
One of the critically renowned Netflix series, ‘the Witcher’ is based on the book series by legendary writer Andrzej Sapkowski. The series narrates the adventures of Geralt of Rivia, portrayed by the charismatic and artistic Hnery Cavill, and his run-ins with enemies and deadly creatures.
Geralt of Rivia is a solitary monster hunter, with distinct super powers, who kills monsters for money. However, the audacious warrior is struggling to find his place in this world, where people are crueler and wicked than monsters and beasts.
Hence, picking up from where it left, the Witcher season 2 is just around the corner, coming out with newest ventures. And, when the first part was all about the Geralt himself, season 2 of the Netflix series will see Geralt protecting Ciri at is childhood home in the hopes of keeping the young princess safe from the great powers within herself.
Moreover, as assumed from the teasers and trailers, the Witcher season 2 will see the two travels to Kaer Morhen, the mountain fortress of the witchers where Geralt was trained, and where Ciri will be undergoing similar trials to become a witcher herself. And if the teaser is anything to go by, learning to become a witcher is no fun at all.
Furthermore, the announcement of ‘The witcher season 2’ comes as fans gathered virtually at the first-ever WitcherCon. The global digital convention presented deep dives into the making of “The Witcher” games, live action series and anime film, in addition to a host of panels that included cast members Anya Chalotra, Freya Allan, Mimî M. Khayisa, Paul Bullion and Lauren Schmidt Hissrich.
Besides the second installment in television series, also announced at WitcherCon was a release date for the upcoming animated prequel film, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, which will come to Netflix August 23rd, and an official announcement of a next-generation PS5 and Xbox Series X update for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt from CD Projekt Red, which will arrive for free later this year and bring DLC inspired by the Netflix show.
The Witcher season 2 comprises of eight episodes in total, and will be dropped on December 17th, 2021 as a Christmas present for the Witcher family.
