ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) has directed Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) to enhance voice and broadband services network in erstwhile FATA districts of KP Province to facilitate people of the area for online education and other web-based services.
As PTCL has already been providing fixed line voice and data services in the erstwhile tribal agencies, hence growing demand of the people will likely to met in short timeframe. This will not only address the issues of students in the merged districts of KP to accquire online education but will provide an oppertunity to develop online business platforms by the general public as available in other parts of the country.
PTA is also working jointly with Higher Education Commission (HEC) to facilitate and promote online education. Meetings are also being held between PTA, HEC and mobile operators for launch of Taleemi Bundle to facilitate students for distance learning and online classes. Moreover, in view of COVID-19 pandemic in Pakistan, mobile operators have already introduced discounted bundles and packages. These packages / offers (by giving additional data and on-net voice minutes) have been launched to facilitate people to stay and work from home (details are available at operators’ and PTA’s website).
