QUETTA: The Balochistan government has announced the suspension of mobile phone and internet services in Quetta and several other sensitive districts during the first four days of Muharram. The move aims to ensure security during the religious observance.
Key Details:
- Service Suspension Dates: July 17 to July 20, covering 7th to 10th Muharram.
- Affected Areas: Quetta, Kachhi, Jhal Magsi, Jaffarabad, and Usta Muhammad districts will experience service disruptions on 9th and 10th Muharram.
- Security Measures:
- Over 18,000 security personnel will be deployed in Quetta for Youm-i-Ashur.
- Five platoons of the army’s Quick Reaction Force will remain on standby.
- Two helicopters will conduct aerial monitoring of processions on the 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th of Muharram.
Additional Restrictions:
- Ban on Pillion Riding: Section 144 will enforce a ban on pillion riding in seven districts of the province to maintain public order.
