Quetta blast kills 6, hurts more than 35 people


QUETTA BLAST : At least six persons were killed and more than 50 others injured in a blast near city police station in Liaquat Bazar on Thursday.

According to police, bomb attached with a motorcycle exploded near City police station in Liaqat Bazar, several vehicles, shops and nearby buildings were also damaged due to blast.

The bodies of the victims and injured were shifted to Civil Hospital of the city. The injured included children and policemen Police and rescue teams reached the spot and the wounded were shifted to hospital while emergency was declared in Civil Hospital.

Security forces cordoned off the area and started search operation. Tension prevails in the area after the blast, Liaquat Bazaar is the main bazaar of the city and it was crowded due to Eid shopping at the time of explosion.

President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif have strongly condemned the Quetta blast and expressed sympathies with the affected families.

Meanwhile, another explosion targeting polio team at Peshawar’s Ring Road injured three Khasadar Force officials, According to reports, the explosion took place near the City police station located in the area. The windows of nearby buildings and vehicles parked in the area were damaged in the explosion. This was the third explosion in Pakistan on Thursday.
Earlier one person was killed in an explosion in the Old Anarkali area of Lahore, while three security personnel were injured in an explosion on Ring Road in Peshawar.
The 6kg bomb was planted in a cycle parked outside the police station near the bazaar. The victims and injured included children and policemen. Nearby buildings were damaged in the explosion.

Tension prevails in the area after the blast, It is to be mentioned here that two blasts had already hit Pakistan’s Lahore and Peshawar cities today.
