BANNU Bomb attack on MMA candidate Akram Durrani’s convoy 4 killed 25 injured

BANNU: A remote controlled bomb went off on convoy of Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) candidate Akram Durrani in Bannu this morning.

Akram Durrani  however, escaped unhurt while four people were killed and 25 others injured.

Police said Akram Durrani’s cavalcade was attacked in Haved neighborhood of the city. He remained safe while four people were killed and 14 others suffered serious wounds.

The deceased and injured were shifted to District Headquarters Bannu. Several vehicles part of the former KP chief minister’s squad were also damaged.

He was on his way to attend a rally in connection with the election campaign when he was attacked.

An eye witness said a suicide bomber riding a motorbike blew himself up near the convoy of the former federal minister. However, officials contradicted this claim, saying the bomb was planted in a motorcycle parked near the road side.

Durrani has served as the Federal Minister for Housing and Works in the last federal government.

Durrani is contesting the July 25 election against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairperson Imran Khan.

This is the second terrorist attack targeting an election candidate in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province as Awami National Party (ANP) candidate Haroon Bilour and over a dozen others were killed when a suicide bomber blew himself up at a corner meeting in Peshawar’s Yakatut area.

Bilour was contesting the upcoming general election from the PK-78 constituency of Peshawar.

Hello! My name is Farhan Abro, and I'm based here in Islamabad. My journey in Pakistan's digital media really kicked off when I founded INCPak back in 2012. We built it from the ground up, driven by an entrepreneurial spirit, to be a trusted voice for independent journalism. But while media is a big part of who I am, I'm also shaped by a fascinating mix of other passions. I'm deeply into automotive, which gives me a technical edge, but I also find my artistic expression through landscape photography and music. And I'm always diving into the exciting world of Artificial Intelligence. Bringing all these different worlds together the technical, the creative, the journalistic, and the entrepreneurial—it really colors how I see things and approach every project. It gives me a distinct perspective that I try to bring to everything I share
