Begum Kulsoom Nawaz laid to rest in Jati Umra

Lahore – Begum Kulsoom Nawaz wife of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is laid to rest in Jati Umra today.

Earlier funeral prayer of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz was offered in Sharif Medical complex. Thousands of PML-N workers including leaders and Sharif family members attended.

A government delegation comprising Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar, Governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar and National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaisar also reached Sharif family’s Jati Umra residence earlier today to attend the funeral and burial ceremony.

Mrs. Nawaz died on 11th September after the prolonged illness in London.

Begum Kulsoom Nawaz was born into a Kashmiri family in Lahore, she attended Islamia College and Foreman Christian College University for her graduation. Kulsoom was married to Nawaz Sharif, with whom she has four children. Kulsoom Nawaz served as the President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) from 1999 to 2002.
