Coronavirus cases in Pakistan surge to 24041, death toll reaches 564

The total number of coronavirus in Pakistan have surged to 24,041 after more than 1,500 cases were reported on Wednesday, 6 May 2020, by respective provincial departments for the mentioned date. Apart from cases 38 more fatalities were also reported bringing the country’s death toll to 564.

Sindh reported nine more fatalities due to coronavirus according to Senator Murtaza Wahab the Provincial Health and Population Welfare Department in their daily updates on Twitter. This brought the provincial death toll to 157.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department also reported nine more fatalities that brought the provincial death toll to 203.

213 new cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 3,712 in KP. 9 new deaths were confirmed (6 Peshawar, 1 each Mardan, Swabi, Malakand) taking the tally to 203. 64 new patients recovered, taking the tally to 939 in KP. Active cases stand at 2,570. pic.twitter.com/MAmkm4pF7h

Balochistan government also issued their daily situation report according to which there was one more death which brought the total fatalities of the province to 21.

However, there were four more cases reported later by Balochistan Government Spokesperson Liaquat Shahwani but no more fatalities.

Punjab reported 19 more fatalities according to the daily report by the Provincial Disaster and Management Authority (PDMA). This brings the provincial death toll to 175

There have been no more deaths in Gilgit Baltistan and the number of cases also remains under control and the recovery rate high.

Global Update

The total number of coronavirus cases globally have surged past 3.79 million and the global death toll has topped 262,500. United States remains the most affected country which has had the most cases as well as fatalities.

Apart from the United States Russia is now also seeing a rapid increase in the number of cases being reported as the virus reaches in peak in the country.

UK has now become the country with second highest death toll followed by the United States and the highest death toll in Europe.
