TTP Claims Dera Ismail Khan Twin Attack, 9 Killed Many Injured

Dera Ismail Khan: Tehreek e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed the Dera Ismail Khan Twin attack. Nine people have been killed and as many as thirty others were injured.

Dl Khan District Police Officer (DPO) Salim Riaz,  giving the details said, the attack was carried out around 7:45 am on Sunday. The Kotla Saidan Checkpost located in a residential area was targeted by unidentified gunmen. They were riding on four motorcycles.

The gunmen opened fire at the checkpoint martyring two policemen.

The second attack took place at the entrance of Civil Hospital. A suicide bomber detonated the vest at the entrance of the hospital. Four more policemen and three civilians visiting relatives were martyred.

Female Suicide Bomber

A local forensic expert has said the attacker was a female suicide bomber. He said 7kg of explosive packed with nails and ball-bearings were setoff by her.

The reports will be confirmed after the investigation is completed.

DPO Riaz has said thirty more were injured.

The blast damaged the emergency room, therefore the wounded were taken to the military hospital.

TTP Claims The Attack

Tehreek e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed the terrorist attack of DI Khan. They have not acknowledged that the suicide attacker was a female.

TTP spokesperson Muhammad Khorasani has said the attack was a retaliation for the killing of their friend Hafiz Zia-ur-Rehman on June 23 by the Counter-Terrorism Department in DI Khan

TTP also has said their retaliation will carry on till they take revenge of every drop of blood shed by their martyrs.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has strongly condemned terrorist attacks in Dera Ismail Khan, reiterates such cowardly acts cannot deter govt’s resolve against terrorism.

SAPM on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Dera Ismail Khan.
She prayed Allah Almighty to rest the departed souls in eternal peace and grant courage to the bereaved families to bear the loss with fortitude.
