ISLAMABAD: Eid-ul-Azha 2020 will be celebrated on the 31 July according to the Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry on Monday.
Fawad Chaudhry took to Twitter to announce the date for Eid-ul-Azha 2020 saying that the moon for Zilhaj will be visible in Karachi and surrounding areas on 21 July. He further stated that the Ruet App may be used to determine the exact location of the moon.
Fawad Chaudhry has been in a constant feud with the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee over the moon sighting issue and both sides were under an argument of Eid-ul-Fitr as the ministry had already announced the date whereas the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee was delaying the announcement.
Fawad Chaudhry wants the Ministry of Science and Technology to handle the soon sighting issues to resolve the controversy regarding it once and for all. The responsibility stands with the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee currently.
According to the Minister, there will be two moon observatories set up by next year to resolve this issue. These will be set up in Gwadar and Islamabad where anyone will be able to go see the moon ending the argument over moon sighting.
