Goods Transporters protests outside CM and Governor House in Karachi

Frustrated goods transporters in Karachi took to the streets today, staging a loud demonstration outside the Chief Minister’s House and Governor House to demand immediate government intervention in their worsening crisis.

  • 11 Days of Deadlock: Nearly 40,000 cargo trucks remain stuck in Sukkur due to ongoing protests.
  • Financial Disaster: Transporters report crores of rupees worth of perishable goods are rotting in stranded vehicles.
  • No Government Response: Despite repeated appeals, authorities have failed to resolve the standoff.

Chanting slogans and waving placards, hundreds of transporters

  • Marched from Karachi Truck Stand to key government offices
  • Blocked surrounding roads, causing major traffic disruptions
  • Warned of indefinite strikes if demands aren’t met within 24 hours

“We’re losing Rs. 50-60 lakh daily,” shouted one protester. “If our goods spoil completely, we’ll have nothing left to feed our families.”

The crisis stems from

  1. Sukkur Transporters’ Strike halting all cargo movement
  2. Police inaction to clear protest sites
  3. No alternative routes being provided

With temperatures rising and goods perishing, protesters vow to

  • Expand demonstrations statewide.
  • Completely halt cargo movement.
  • Stage sit-ins at highways

Despite the growing emergency:

  • No minister has addressed transporters’ concerns.
  • No emergency meeting called
  • No compensation offered for losses

As the sun set on today’s protest, one weary transporter summed it up: “We’ll keep fighting until someone in power finally listens.”

Hello! My name is Farhan Abro, and I'm based here in Islamabad. My journey in Pakistan's digital media really kicked off when I founded INCPak back in 2012. We built it from the ground up, driven by an entrepreneurial spirit, to be a trusted voice for independent journalism. But while media is a big part of who I am, I'm also shaped by a fascinating mix of other passions. I'm deeply into automotive, which gives me a technical edge, but I also find my artistic expression through landscape photography and music. And I'm always diving into the exciting world of Artificial Intelligence. Bringing all these different worlds together the technical, the creative, the journalistic, and the entrepreneurial—it really colors how I see things and approach every project. It gives me a distinct perspective that I try to bring to everything I share
