The government has now increased traffic violation fines for nearly everyone. The new fine have been imposed on motorways and highways and involve things like over-speeding, overtaking and even signal violations.
The traffic violation fine for over-speeding has now been increased from the earlier Rs. 750 to a whopping Rs. 2500 and Rs. 10,000 will be charged for this same violation from bus drivers. Heavy vehicles such as trucks will pay Rs. 5000 for over-speeding.
The traffic violation fine on the failure to observe traffic signal now ranges from Rs. 1000 to Rs. 5000 depending on the severity of the violation. The maximum fine of Rs. 5000 is imposed on a complete red light violation for all vehicles.
Over-taking violation will now be fined at Rs. 1500 for motorcycles and cars whereas, heavy vehicles like trucks and buses will pay Rs. 3000.
In the same way if someone denies the right of way to another vehicle, the person will be charged a fine of Rs. 1000.
Other traffic violation fine like improper crossing of railway tracks, following to close to vehicles, using high beam lights and failure to observe lighting hours will be fined at Rs. 1000.
Driving without headlights has a rather heavy fine imposed of Rs. 5000.
