Earlier this week, the Ministry of Interior had announced five public holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr 2023 from April 21 (Friday) to April 25 (Tuesday) and a notification was also issued in this regard.

Meanwhile, the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Punjab have also announced their the schedule for their Eid-ul-Fitr holidays.

The province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) announced that it will observe Eid holidays from April 21 (Friday) to April 26 (Wednesday), while Punjab will observe Eid holidays from April 21 (Friday) to April 25 (Tuesday).

However, if the Federal Government extends the public holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr 2023, there is a possibility that Government of Punjab may follow in its footsteps.

Eid-ul-Fitr 2023 is expected to fall on either April 21 or April 22, depending on the sighting of the Shawwal moon. The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee (RHC) is scheduled to meet on April 20 (29 Ramadan) for the crescent sighting of the month of Shawwal.

However, the Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council (RHRC) has stated that Eid-ul-Fitr 2023 is likely to fall on April 22 as chances of moon sighting on April 20 are very low and Ramadan is likely to complete 30 days this year.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Railways has announced special trains for citizens to travel to their homes in order to celebrate the Eid-ul-Fitr 2023 public holidays with their families.
