“I have asked Dr Sania Nishtar to lead Ehsaas Program in Punjab.” said Imran Khan, adding that she will soon reach the province and monitor the restoration of all the social welfare programmes, including the Ehsaas Rashan Program, Ehsaas Panagah and Langar Program, and the Sehat Card.

The announcement comes a day after the Supreme Court (SC) declared the ruling of Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker, Dost Mohammad Mazari, as ‘illegal’ and ordered Pervez Elahi, the joint candidate of Pakistan Muslim League – Quaid (PML-Q) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), to take up the position of the new Chief Minister Punjab.

It bears mentioning that Deputy Speaker of the Punjab Assembly, Dost Mohammad Mazari, had declared PML-N candidate, Hamza Shehbaz, as the winner of the election for CM Punjab despite getting only 179 votes against 186 votes PML-Q’s Pervez Elahi, after he rejected 10 votes cast by his party.

Taking back the Punjab Province, Former Prime Minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan has directed the Pervez Elahi-led Provincial Government to restore the Ehsaas Program alongside other social welfare programmes in Punjab in order to provide relief to the public during the current economic crisis.

It is pertinent to mention that Ehsaas Program was scrapped and parts of it were instated into the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) under newly appointed Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Security, Shazia Marri, who replaced Dr Sania Nishtar.

However, Imran Khan did not mention specifically mention the restoration of Ehsaas Kafalat Program, which has been renamed back to Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) by the coalition government. It is expected that more details about the restoration of the programmes will be announced soon.

It bears mentioning that Former Prime Minister Imran Khan-led Government had launched the Ehsaas Raabta App to help provide information and answer queries of beneficiaries regarding the initiatives of Ehsaas Program. According to the details, the Ehsaas Raabta App was aimed at guiding a common man / beneficiary of the Ehsaas Program about different aspects of the initiative through an Android-based application.

The app was designed to provide instructional information in Urdu for the app users to read and understand about the diverse Ehsaas Programs, including Ehsaas Kafalat Program, Ehsaas Taleemi Wazaif, Ehsaas Rashan Riayat, Ehsaas Nashonuma, Ehsaas Survey, Ehsaas Registration Desk, Ehsaas Undergraduate Scholarship, Ehsaas Interest-Free Loan, Ehsaas Bachat Account, Ehsaas Amdan, Dar-ul-Ehsaas, Ehsaas Panagah, Ehsaas Langar, Ehsaas Koi Bhooka Na Soye, One Window Ehsaas, Ehsaas Tahafuz and several others.
