Islamabad Bans Selling and Flying of Kites For Two Months

Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) has imposed Section 144 in the Federal Capital for a period of two months on account of Basant festival and banned selling and flying of kites in Islamabad District, which creates a danger to human life and safety of the general public.

“It has been brought to my notice that certain sections of public indulge in manufacturing/selling kites, kite flying string, sharp Maanjha, metallic wire and nylon cord, which creates a danger to human life and safety of the general public of District Islamabad.” the notification read.

Therefore, the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) has imposed Section 144 in the Federal Capital for a period of two months. Under the Section 144 Cr.PC 1898, the public is prohibited/banned from “the manufacturing and selling of kites, kite flying string, sharp Maanjha, metallic wire, and nylon cord within the revenue/territorial limits of District Islamabad.”

It added that owners and occupants of houses, shops, hospitals, and buildings will not be allowed kite flying activity on their roof-tops either.

The order has come into effect from 4th February 2023.
