ISLAMABAD: The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) will observe no loadshedding of the Compressed Natural Gas throughout Punjab in order to facilitate consumers on the occasion of Eid ul Fitr.

According to the company’s load management plan for Eid ul Fitr, gas supply shall be restored for the period from August 7th (6 AM) to August 9th (6 AM) to filling stations operating in Zone-II which includes Faisalabad, Sargodha,Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Bahawalpur regions.

While gas supply to filling stations in zone-I including Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sahiwal, Multan Gujranawala and Gujrat regions shall be restored from August 10th (6 AM) to August 12th (6 AM) to facilitate masses on Eid ul Fitr.

Meanwhile the All Pakistan CNG Association (APCNGA) has appreciated the government’s efforts to put an end to gas pilfering, saying it would convey a strong message to dishonest elements to stop nefarious practices.

APCNGA Supreme Council Chairman Ghiyas Abdullah Paracha in a statement says the move would also help in resolving the prevailing energy crisis and provide level playing field to all stakeholders.

He says the decision to launch drive indicates that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif are fully focused on resolving the energy crisis.

He is of the view that implementation of ban on natural gas generators will reduce energy crisis by 30 per cent, while action against industrialists involved in illegally generating electricity through natural gas and selling it will settle the gas crisis.

According to reports, SNGPL and SSGC were taking effective measures to successfully implement the drive against gas theft without any discrimination.

The federal and provincial government has extended full support to the two companies in this regard.
