ISLAMABAD: A Three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Asif Saeed Khosa rejects the petition to extend bail duration of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
The Supreme Court of Pakistan rejected the petition to extend the bail on medical basis, The bench also includes Justice Sajjad Ali Shah and Justice Yahya Afridi.
The Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice (CJP) Asif Saeed Khosa said: ” We cannot predict the about the future.”
“Doctors can comment better on his illness,” the judges observed adding, “This was part of the package that you can request for a bail extension after six weeks.”
Khawaja Haris told the bench that his client was suffering from kidney-related ailment as well as depression, and asked the court to extend the bail for eight more weeks.
Haris said health condition of his client is worsening and his heart problem cannot be treated in Pakistan.
The bail will expire on May 7, 2019 after which Nawaz Sharif will return to Kot Lakhpat Jail, Lahore.
