Journalists Mugged in Broad Daylight on MA Jinnah Road Karachi

The city has once again been gripped by lawlessness. A robbery near Mama Parsi School on MA Jinnah Road has raised serious questions about the performance of Karachi Police.

Two members of the Karachi Press Club, senior journalist Asif Jiaja and associate member Furqan
Behlam, fell victim to two armed, masked robbers on a motorcycle. The culprits not only looted mobile phones, 160,000 rupees in cash, important journalistic documents, and press cards, but also managed to escape, highlighting the absence of police on a busy road and exposing the city’s security situation.

The lack of any police presence at the time of the incident area proves that Karachi’s streets have been left at the mercy of criminals. After the incident, the affected journalists immediately reached Preedy Police Station and filed a FIR report. As news spread, several journalists arrived at the preedy police station and strongly condemned the police’s irresponsible behavior. Journalistic organizations harshly criticized the incident, stating that if even Press Club members are not safe, what about the lives and property of ordinary citizens?

The journalist community has demanded from Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, the Law Minister, Secretary Law Department Iqbal Memon, Sindh IG Ghulam Nabi Memon, Additional IG Karachi Javed Alam Odho, Corps Commander Karachi, DG Rangers, Wing Commander, and other senior officials to end this lawlessness, take practical action against these thieves and robbers, immediately arrest the culprits, and recover the stolen mobile phones, 160,000 rupees, CNIC, all press cards, and other essential valuables as soon as possible. They also called for action to curb the rising crime in the city.

Farhan Abro

Hello! My name is Farhan Abro, and I'm based here in Islamabad. My journey in Pakistan's digital media really kicked off when I founded INCPak back in 2012. We built it from the ground up, driven by an entrepreneurial spirit, to be a trusted voice for independent journalism. But while media is a big part of who I am, I'm also shaped by a fascinating mix of other passions. I'm deeply into automotive, which gives me a technical edge, but I also find my artistic expression through landscape photography and music. And I'm always diving into the exciting world of Artificial Intelligence. Bringing all these different worlds together the technical, the creative, the journalistic, and the entrepreneurial—it really colors how I see things and approach every project. It gives me a distinct perspective that I try to bring to everything I share
