The victim, a 16-year-old girl was kidnapped right outside of her college by five 5 from Gulshan-e-Hadeed, Karachi. She was then brutally gang-raped and later thrown on the roadside in the Defence area.

First Information Report

According to the First Information Report, the father of Bushra Mr. Mohammad Sulaiman is a headmaster of the Government Boys Primary School. According to the statement of the father registered in the FIR report, the incident took place on February 9, 2021.

Bushra who is a student of Government Girls Degree College located in Gulshan-e-Hadeed as per normal routine left home around 8:30 am for her college but did not return home at the usual time of 1:30 pm.

Since she did not return home on time the worried father let home in search of her daughter. On February 10, 2021, the father received a call from the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) police station, who informed the father that a girl has been found with the name of Bushra. The father then rushed to the police station only to find his daughter Bushra in an unconscious state. Bushra was rushed to the hospital immediately. Due to fear and the dilemma of the experience she went through, she was not able to say anything to her father. As she got a little better and regained her consciousness she informed her father of the incident.

Bushra told her father that on the day of the incident February 9, 2021, when she got out when the college ended for the day a car approached her and a boy got out of the car and forced her in the car. The boy is identified as Sami by the victim. She also said there was another boy inside the car, identified as Fawad. They drove the car to an unidentified location where two to three more boys joined them. Bushra does not know the names of other accused but will recognize them if she sees them.

The cases of sexual assault of young and innocent girls and boys don’t seem to stop. The public is still demanding for the public hanging of the rapist. No one wants the criminals like these to live in this society. It is so easy for these barbarians to get away with such crimes.

Rape Cases and their Convictions

According to reports the reported rape cases filed across the country in the last six years are over 22,000. Only 0.03% of the accused have been convicted.

From a total number of 22,037 cases registered since 2015, 4,060 cases are pending in courts and only 18% have reached the prosecution stage.

With such a system, it is apparent that sexual assaults, rapes, and such cases will keep on rising. The system needs to speed up the process of all cases particularly the rape and sexual assault cases or else there is no hope at all.
