#JusticeForSarah has been trending on Twitter as netizens demand Justice For Sarah Inam Rathore after she was murdered with a dumbbell by her husband, Shahnawaz, the son of renowned journalist, Ayaz Amir, at their home in Islamabad on Friday.
According to the details, Sarah Inam Rathore was murdered by her husband, Shahnawaz, the son of senior journalist, Ayaz Amir, after the couple got into an argument at their farmhouse located in Shahzad Town, where they lived along with he rest of the family.
Islamabad Police detained the prime suspect, Ayaz Amir’s son, Shahnawaz, for killing his wife, Sarah Inam Rathore, and registered a First Information Report (FIR) on the complaint of Station House Officer (SHO) Nawazish Ali Khan on Friday under Section 302 (punishment for murder) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
The FIR mentioned that Shahnawaz’s mother, Samina Shah, had called the police on Friday after discovering the body of her daughter-in-law in the bathroom and informed them of the incident after which the police personnel arrived on the scene and found the suspect locked inside his room with blood spots on his hands and clothes.
According to the police, Shahnawaz, had confessed to hitting his wife, Sarah Inam, repeatedly with a dumbbell after they got into an argument and then later hid the body in the bathtub and the murder weapon under his bed. Furthermore, the police sent the dumbbell for forensics and the body was sent to the Polyclinic Hospital for postmortem.
During today’s hearing of the case before the court of civil judge, Mubashir Hassan Chishti, the police requested the court to grant a 10-day physical remand of the suspect, Shahnawaz, for interrogation, while filing a petition seeking for the approval of arrest warrants for the parents of the suspects and taking his fingerprints.
Shahnawaz’s lawyer said that it was a “blind murder” and they had no objection to the police’s request for a remand. He also asserted that it was a case based on “just allegations” right now. The court ended up granting a two-day physical remand for interrogation and accepted the pea for issuance of arrest warrants for the parents of Shahnawaz.
However, the court rejected the request for taking the suspect’s fingerprints. “The fingerprints can be acquired from National Database and Registration Authority,” the judge said.
