Kainat Tariq Case: Accused Admits of Secret Nikkah

According to the details provided by Independent Urdu, the police have completed their investigation during the eight-day remand of Khalid Bin Majid, who confessed to his relationship with the victim, after which the accused was sent to Adyala Jail on a 14-day judicial remand.

Read about the previous details revealed by police.

Some important revelations were made during the investigation by police. The accused told the police that Kainat Tariq was a resident of Darulaman (this was verified by the police) and applied for a job at the Red Crescent Society Pakistan (RCSP) online after which Khalid Bin Majid offered her a position at the Islamabad office.

According to further details, the accused Khalid seduced the victim and had a secret Nikkah in the presence of two friends with no documentary evidence as he did not even register the marriage.

During the investigation, it was also revealed that Khalid Bin Majid got Kainat Tariq admitted to NUML while pretending to be her brother and also gave her a Honda car for personal use.

Khalid told that Kainat wanted to make their marriage public but he had no intention of going through with it and as a result, she ended up taking her own life.

The police also revealed that the victim’s medical report did not prove that Kainat Tariq was pregnant as claimed by her mother. However, more details will come to light once they receive the forensics of the mobile phone data.

While the police claim that this may be a case of suicide but due Khalid’s involvement, he may be charged with Section 322 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) which carries a sentence of 7 – 10 years.

The family of Kainat Tariq is not satisfied with the police investigation and her brother Osama Tariq, who lives in Dubai, told the media outlet that he was unaware of his sister’s marriage even though they regularly communicated with each other.

However, he doesn’t believe that this was a case of suicide. “She would have told me if she was suffering from depression, but Kainat has never shared anything like that,” said Osama Tariq.

Osama Tariq also said that he used to send huge sum to his sister every month. According to the victim’s brother, the police can’t be trusted on the investigation as the Red Crescent Society Pakistan’s employee Khalid Bin Majid has strong political connections.

He has demanded for a judicial investigation into the matter for a more fair trial.

Kainat Tariq Murder Case – Background

The 23-year-old NUML student was murdered last month and a First Information Report (FIR) was registered by the victim’s father after which the Red Crescent Secretary General Khalid Bin Majid was charged with murder.
