Khalsa observes 15th August as Black Day

The Sikhs representative organization, Dal Khalsa, has called upon the community to boycott Indian Independence Day celebrations and do not recite “Indian National Anthem” as according to the organization these verses do not represent the independent stature of the Sikh community.

Dal Khalsa spokesman, Kanwar Pal Singh addressing a press conference gave a call for boycott of celebrations as there was no reason for Sikhs to celebrate August 15, the India’s Independence Day. He said the Dal Khalsa declared that the independence of Punjab was the only solution for its people to protect their distinct identity, its natural resources, social-political interests, fulfill rightful aspirations and move forward without any outside domination and fear.

He expressed concern about Punjab and declared that Punjabis were socially, ethically, culturally and political different from Indians. He said on August 15 while Indians celebrate their freedom, Sikhs will observe it as a Black Day.

He said the rulers of the country were worried about the protection of cow, but ironically they treated human beings especially dalits and minorities in an inhumane way.

He said the Kashmir and Punjab problems both were cases of the broken promises. Indian leadership has betrayed and ditched both the communities, he added.

Prominent amongst those who were present included Amrik Singh Issru, Jasbir Singh Khandur, Jagjit Singh Khosa and Paramjit Singh Tanda.

Farhan Abro

Hello! My name is Farhan Abro, and I'm based here in Islamabad. My journey in Pakistan's digital media really kicked off when I founded INCPak back in 2012. We built it from the ground up, driven by an entrepreneurial spirit, to be a trusted voice for independent journalism. But while media is a big part of who I am, I'm also shaped by a fascinating mix of other passions. I'm deeply into automotive, which gives me a technical edge, but I also find my artistic expression through landscape photography and music. And I'm always diving into the exciting world of Artificial Intelligence. Bringing all these different worlds together the technical, the creative, the journalistic, and the entrepreneurial—it really colors how I see things and approach every project. It gives me a distinct perspective that I try to bring to everything I share
