LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and opposition leader in the provincial assembly Mian Mehmoodur Rashid on Monday jointly announced the nomination of former bureaucrat Nasir Saeed Khosa as Punjab’s caretaker chief minister.

Earlier, both Sharif and the opposition leader had put forward two names each for the post and agreed that they would consult their parties for finalising the nomination.
After the joint announcement, Shehbaz Sharif expressed hope that Nasir Saeed Khosa, being a reputed bureaucrat, will help ensure transparency during the electoral process in Punjab.
Khosa, a former bureaucrat, served as chief secretary in Punjab and Balochistan in the past.
He also served as as deputy commissioner Faisalabad and Lahore, additional secretary agriculture and food and principal secretary to the Punjab governor.
