Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has taken legal action against the Municipal Corporation’s decision to seal its Islamabad office. PTI Secretary General Omar Ayub filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court (IHC), as reported by ARY News.
Omar Ayub approached the High Court after undergoing biometric verification. He aims to challenge the sealing of the PTI office, deeming it unjust.
This legal move follows a raid on the PTI Secretariat by law enforcement agencies. Authorities conducted the raid based on substantial evidence. The police claim that the PTI Secretariat operated as the hub of an international disinformation network through its digital media center. An international social media activist linked to the party provided the crucial information leading to the raid.
During the operation, Islamabad police seized computers and records from the PTI central office. These items are now part of an ongoing investigation.
Previously, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) sealed the office, located in Islamabad’s G-8 sector, citing violations of building rules. As part of an anti-encroachment operation, a portion of the party headquarters was demolished, and the office was sealed.
However, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) later ordered the reopening of the PTI Central Secretariat, allowing the party to resume its operations.
