Resignations from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have started pouring in ahead of the election to select the new Prime Minister of Pakistan. The announcement was made by PTI leader Farrukh Habib on Twitter after the party’s parliamentary meeting.
“The parliamentary party has decided to resign from the assemblies,” he said on Twitter. “We do not accept this imported government.” he added. The decision was made ahead of the National Assembly (NA) election to select the new Prime Minister of Pakistan.

According to local media outlets, Imran Khan said that PTI will not sit in the Assembly with people who have looted the country and who have been imported by foreign powers. “We have made this decision to keep the institutions under pressure who want this government to run the country […] we will not let them continue.” he added.
However, there were many parliamentary party members against the decision and advised to stay and face the opposition on every front, but Imran Khan said that if none of the parliamentarians resign, he would be the first member to tender his resignation from the assembly.
