ISLAMABAD: Following the recent General Elections, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party has nominated Omar Ayub Khan, their general secretary, as their candidate for Prime Minister.
This announcement signals a heightened contest for government formation amidst accusations of electoral irregularities.
Former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser, representing PTI founder Imran Khan, declared Omar Ayub Khan as the party’s PM candidate after consultations.
Qaiser mentioned ongoing discussions with other parties like JUI-F and ANP.
PTI raised concerns about large-scale electoral fraud and vowed to reject any illegitimate government.
The party plans to pursue both parliamentary and legal avenues to address its claims.
Qaiser highlighted international concerns, particularly from the US and Europe, regarding the alleged rigging.
A PTI parliamentary party meeting is expected within the next week.
