The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has released the schedule of constituencies for the local body elections in Punjab.
According to the details, the preparations for the local body elections have started in Punjab. The delimitation of Village Council and Neighborhood Council have been started immediately as per the schedule of Election Commission of Pakistan.
The Election Commission has said that the demarcation process will be completed by March 22, 2022.
It is pertinent to mention that the five-year term of the local governments in Punjab is set to expire on 31 December 2021.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had reportedly told the Punjab Government to ensure compliance with all directions on holding the local body elections in Punjab within 120 days of December 31.
The Prime Minister Imran Khan had also instructed the Punjab Government to hold the local body elections in the province during the first quarter of next year.
