The Bank of Punjab (BOP) and Punjab Employees’ Social Security Institution (PESSI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to launch the Punjab Mazdoor Card which is aimed to provide financial stability to laborers across the province. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the representatives of Punjab Social Security and Bank of Punjab in the presence of Chief Minister of Punjab Usman Sardar Buzdar.
The MoU ceremony was attended by Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Khan Buzdar, Minister for Labor and Human Resource Department Mr. Ansar Majeed Khan, Minister for Higher Education and Information Technology Board, Punjab Mr. Yasir Humayun, Commissioner PESSI Syed Bilal Haider, President & CEO of The Bank of Punjab Mr. Zafar Masud, Group Chief Consumer & Digital Banking Group BOP Mr. Zahid Mustafa and many more dignitaries.
Spokesperson for the Punjab Government, Fayyaz-ul-Hasan Chohan recently spoke about the Punjab Mazdoor Card. He said that it is the pride of the Buzdar Government, which will provide several benefits to laborers across the province.
The Punjab Mazdoor Card can be used as a debit card and identity code. Furthermore, the card will be accepted at hospitals and dispensaries of the Social Security Institute as well as enlisted private hospitals across the province. The Punjab Mazdoor Card will be linked to the Sehat Sahulat Card and various government loan schemes.
Moreover, the bank accounts of 1.1 million workers are being opened as part of the initiative, which will benefit 1.1 million laborers and their families. The laborers will benefit from Industrial Workers Housing Schemes and Akhuwat through the Punjab Mazdoor Card.
There will also be several other benefits such as up to 30 percent discount which can be availed on products of more than 130 companies. The laborers will also be provided with concession on Railways, Stores and Private Schools for education of their children.
Prime Minister Imran Khan will soon launch the Punjab Mazdoor Card.
