Rawalpindi, 24th August 2024: The Deputy Commissioner of Rawalpindi has officially declared a local holiday for educational institutions in Tehsil City, Tehsil Cantt, and Tehsil Saddar of Rawalpindi district on Monday, 26th August 2024, in observance of the Chehlum procession.
The announcement, made through Notification No. 214/ADC(HQ)/AC dated 24th August 2024, confirms that all universities, colleges, and schools—both government and private—within the municipal limits of Tehsil Rawalpindi will remain closed. However, this closure does not apply to institutions and offices within the Cantonment area, which will operate as usual.
Despite the holiday, all emergency and relief departments and affiliated offices will continue their operations to ensure public safety and service availability during the procession.
The decision aligns with the earlier issued Notification No. 211/ADC(HQ)/AC dated 23rd August 2024, further affirming the local government’s commitment to maintaining order and respecting the significance of religious observances.
