The Sialkot to Lahore Motorway (M-11) is near completion and will be operational for traffic from 30 March 2020 and will reduce travel time between the two cities to under 50 minutes.
The total cost of the Sialkot – Lahore motorway project is Rs. 44 billion and stretches over 91.5 km with four lanes consisting of 9 interchanges, 8 flyovers, 20 bridges and 18 underpasses.
The M-11 four lane motorway will connect to other cities along the way including Kamonke, Daska, Sambrial before reaching its destination that is either Sialkot or Lahore depending on which way you’re travelling.
Earlier, the route used for travel between Sialkot and Lahore was the GT Road that passed through Komoke, Muridke, Gujranwala and Daska before finally reaching Sialkot and that took a long time (almost 3 hours) as the GT Road has heavy traffic near these cities.
Now the M-11 project reduces that time to just under 50 minutes and the four lane motorway also connects to the Lahore – Islamabad motorway (M-2) at the Kala Shah Kaku interchange.
