Sasta Petrol Sasta Diesel Scheme Disburses Over Rs. 12 Billion

The federal government has successfully disbursed over Rs. 12 billion under the ‘Sasta Diesel Sasta Petrol Scheme’ across Pakistan to aid poor segment of society with massive increases in the prices of petroleum products since Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif-led coalition government came to power.

According to the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) that is managing the Sasta Petrol Sasta Diesel Scheme, the federal government has disbursed Rs. 12,114,406,000 to over 6 million deserving families across the country to provide relief during the current economic crisis.

The Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) has also provided a break-down of the disbursement made under the Sasta Petrol Sasta Diesel Program as of July 21, 2022. According to the details, the most disbursements have been made in Punjab, followed by Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Islamabad.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif launched the Sasta Petrol Sasta Diesel Scheme to provide fuel subsidy worth Rs. 2,000 to households with income less than Rs. 40,000 per month to spare them of the extremely high prices of petroleum products in the country.

However, there are several people reporting that no response is being given after they applied for the programme through SMS to 786, which was provided by Finance Minister Miftah Ismail for people to check their eligibility for the programme.
