Section 144 Imposed in Karachi for five days

KARACHI: In an official notification dated October 12, 2024, the Commissioner Karachi Division, Syed Hassan Naqvi, has imposed a five-day ban on public gatherings, protests, demonstrations, sit-ins, and rallies within Karachi Division. The decision follows a request from the Additional Inspector General of Police, Karachi Range, citing potential security issues, law and order concerns, and possible inconvenience to the public.

The restriction, enforced under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (Cr.PC), prohibits the assembly of more than five persons from October 13 to October 17, 2024. This measure aims to prevent unrest due to planned gatherings by various factions in the city, which could lead to clashes and disrupt public peace.

Law enforcement agencies are authorized to take legal action against individuals violating the ban. Police stations have been instructed to file complaints under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) in case of non-compliance.

This temporary ban seeks to maintain order and protect the public from any potential disturbances within the city limits during this period.

Farhan Abro

Hello! My name is Farhan Abro, and I'm based here in Islamabad. My journey in Pakistan's digital media really kicked off when I founded INCPak back in 2012. We built it from the ground up, driven by an entrepreneurial spirit, to be a trusted voice for independent journalism. But while media is a big part of who I am, I'm also shaped by a fascinating mix of other passions. I'm deeply into automotive, which gives me a technical edge, but I also find my artistic expression through landscape photography and music. And I'm always diving into the exciting world of Artificial Intelligence. Bringing all these different worlds together the technical, the creative, the journalistic, and the entrepreneurial—it really colors how I see things and approach every project. It gives me a distinct perspective that I try to bring to everything I share
