Karachi : 12 killed, transport less than usual on Wednesday morning

KARACHI: yesterday’s renewed violence and firing, killing 12 persons including the Shia Aalim and members of Tableeghi Jamaat, parts of the city remained tense on Wednesday morning.

Transport in the affected areas running less than normal, while the University scheduled examinations have been postponed and the main artery of the city M.A. Jinnah Road stands partially closed by placing containers.

According to reports, all the deceased were affiliated with the Tableeghi Jamaat while two of them were Moroccan nationals, who were staying at a nearby mosque.

 

A 6-member delegation of Moroccan nationals was staying at the Madni Masjid located in North Nazimaad, police said.

 

The police said that three people were killed and two others injured in the firing incident.

 

Unknown gunmen opened fire on a car at University Road and killed the leader of Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen Allama Deedar Jalbani and his bodyguard.

On the other hand, Majlis Wahdatul Muslimeen (MWM) has announced observing three-day mourning and protest demonstration to be staged today.
