KARACHI: Pakistan Super League sixth edition (PSL 6 2021) – Match 7 Highlights – Lahore Qalandars VS Multan Sultans (LQ VS MS) at Karachi National Stadium – Sultans won by 7 wickets with 22 balls remaining.
Multan Sultans had won the toss and elected to field first with Lahore Qalandars scoring 157/6 after a rough first innings of the seventh match of the PSL 6 2021 tournament at National Stadium Karachi.
It is pertinent to mention that Lahore Lahore Qalandars have won both their previous matches so far in the tournament while Multan Sultans have been at the bottom of the points table having lost both their matches. However, this all changed today as the Sultans got their first victory of the tournament as Qalandars lost their first match of the season after two consecutive wins.
Lahore Qalandars had a rough start to their batting as both Fakhar Zaman and Sohail Akhtar lost their wickets early in the game having scored only 9 and 7 runs respectively. However, Joe Denly with 31 runs off 29 balls and Mohammad Hafeez with 60 runs off 35 balls were able to bring the squad back into the game.
Meanwhile, Ben Dunk also failed to perform this time and was only able to score 1 run off 2 balls while Samit Patel was able to contribute 26 runs off 20 balls and David Wiese added 13 runs off 8 balls. However, this was an overall poor performance from the Lahore Qalandars batting line except a few who were able to set an acceptable target if not a difficult one.
Multan Sultans won the match with an amazing batting performance albeit with a few hiccups along the way as Chris Lynn lost his wicket after a score of zero off 2 balls but the captain, Mohammad Rizwan, was instrumental at securing victory for the squad with with score of 76 runs off 49 balls.
Meanwhile, James Vince also failed to perform after scoring only 5 runs off 6 balls but Sohaib Maqsood scored 61 runs off 41 balls and helped guide the team to victory towards the end of the second innings.
