KARACHI: Pakistan Super League sixth edition (PSL 6 2021) – Match 8 Highlights – Quetta Gladiators VS Peshawar Zalmi (QG VS PZ) at Karachi National Stadium – Zalmi won by 3 wickets with 3 balls remaining.
Peshawar Zalmi had won the toss and elected to field first allowing Quetta Gladiators to set a target of 199 runs after scoring 198/7 during the first innings of the eighth match of the PSL 6 2021 tournament at Karachi National Stadium. This is one of the highest target set so far this season but Zalmi was able to chase the high target albeit with some difficulty along the way. It is pertinent to mention that Gladiators have not won any match so far in the tournament.
Saim Ayub started off the innings scoring 21 runs off 19 balls, however, the team suffered a setback as Cameron Delport lost his wicket scoring only 2 runs off 5 balls. However, Faf du Plessis was able to recover from the loss of the early wicket for the squad with his contribution of 37 runs off 26 balls.
Sarfaraz Ahmed followed with a brilliant batting performance as he added 81 runs to the score off just 40 balls while Azam Khan contributed 47 runs off 26 balls. Meanwhile, Ben Cutting wasn’t so lucky having lost his wicket at the first ball played with a score of 0 runs.
Imam-ul-Haq started off strong for the Peshawar Zalmi and scored a brilliant 41 runs off 30 balls, however, the squad did suffer a setback when Kamran Akmal lost his wicket early on in the game after scoring just 3 runs off 8 balls and the situation got worse for the team as Tom Kohler-Cadmore got out after scoring just 4 runs off 4 balls, putting the team under immense pressure early in the game.
However, Haider Ali also gave a brilliant performance scoring 50 runs off 29 balls while Shoaib Malik contributed 34 runs off 20 balls. Meanwhile, Wahab Riaz scored 20 runs off just 8 balls while Sherfane Rutherford guided the team to victory with his 36 runs of 18 balls towards the end of the innings while team was under immense pressure after loss of wickets during the last few balls.
