With the highly anticipated Consumer Electronics Show 2024 (CES) just around the corner in Las Vegas, ASUS, the Taiwanese tech giant, has set the stage for an exciting ROG event a day before the main event kicks off on January 9. Speculations are rife that ASUS might unveil a range of laptops and introduce the next-generation ROG Phone 8 series during this event. Notably, the ROG Phone 8 is also slated for a confirmed launch in China on January 16.

Ahead of the official launch event, ASUS has treated enthusiasts to a sneak peek at its forthcoming gaming smartphones. An initial teaser of the ROG Phone 8 offered a glimpse of the device, emphasizing a redesigned camera module. ASUS initiated a blind camera test on its official website, engaging visitors to select the most appealing photo in various scenarios. Upon completion of the test, the page unveils the ROG Phone 8, providing a clearer view of the back panel design.
The ASUS ROG Phone 8 showcases a departure from its predecessor’s slim profile, featuring a more robust and boxy frame. The back panel boasts a dual-tone design, with a lighter and darker shade of the same color variant (Grey and Black). The distinctive squarish camera module protrudes from the right edge, accommodating a large sensor, two smaller lenses, and an LED flash unit. Notably, the device’s bottom part features the signature ROG RGB logo.
As the ASUS ROG Phone 8 curves around the edges, a USB-C port is discernible on the left edge of the device. The teaser also revealed references to ‘telephoto (x3)’ and ‘telephoto (x10)’ categories, suggesting the possibility of a telephoto camera in the ROG Phone 8 series.
The device has already been confirmed to be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, adding to the excitement and anticipation surrounding the official unveiling at the upcoming event.
