External storage devices with fingerprint or biometric security is not new but it is fairly uncommon even to this day. Samsung however might be changing all of that with the announcement of its new T7 Touch SSD with a built-in fingerprint reader at CES 2020.
Samsung T7 Touch is equipped with a fingerprint reader to provide biometric security that will make the drive inaccessible without the registered fingerprint.
According to Samsung, their new T7 touch allows users to register up to four different fingerprints which will allow the drive to be shared with trusted friends too.
Samsung T7 Touch SSD doesn’t just have the added fingerprint security but it is a faster drive too than it’s predecessor with it being at least twice as fast as the T5 with read speeds of up to 1050MB/s and write speeds of 1000MB/s.
According to Samsung, the drive is drop resistant up to two meters and made from a solid aluminum chassis. The drives offers USB C connectivity along with a indicator light on the top that shows active data transmission which is something that wasn’t available in the last model.
