Google to Relaunch Gemini People Image Generation Tool in a Few Week

Google intends to reintroduce its Gemini people generation tool, which it suspended last week due to inaccuracies in historical depictions, within the next few weeks, according to Demis Hassabis, CEO of Google DeepMind. Alphabet’s Google recently launched image generation capabilities using its Gemini AI models, but some users highlighted inaccuracies, particularly in historical images.

“We have taken the feature offline while we fix that. We are hoping to have that back online very shortly in the next couple of weeks, few weeks,” Hassabis stated during a panel at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. He acknowledged that the tool was not performing as intended.

Since the debut of OpenAI’s ChatGPT in November 2022, Google has been in a race to develop AI technology to compete with Microsoft-backed projects. However, Google faced setbacks when its generative AI chatbot, previously known as Bard, shared erroneous information about exoplanets in a promotional video last year, leading to a drop in the company’s shares.

Recently rebranded as Gemini, Google’s AI chatbot now offers paid subscription plans, allowing users to access enhanced reasoning capabilities. This move aims to provide users with better interactions and responses from the AI model.
