Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to provide $200m for 'Ehsas Program'

NEW YORK: Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Pakistani Government will provide 200$ next year for ‘Ehsas Program’.

As per details MoU was signed between Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Government of Pakistan in New York.

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Imran Khan, Chairperson ‘Ehsas Program’ Dr Sania Nishtar and Bill Gates. Other Government officials were present in the meeting.

According to the agreement, the amount will be spent on 134 poverty alleviation projects.

Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister said that ‘Ehsas Program’ is a big project in the history of Pakistan which will turn the country into a welfare state. He said the poverty alleviation is on the top priority of his government from day one.

He said this program will help to achieve the sustainable development goals set under United Nations. He also expressed his commitment for complete elimination of polio from the country.

The government will disburse 80,000 Ehsaas interest-free loan every month. Eligibility and the authorized loan centers have also been released by Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund.
