Emirates airline has temporarily suspended its flights to and from Israel due to the ongoing military conflict in Gaza. The Dubai-based carrier initially announced the suspension of operations to and from Tel Aviv until October 20, which was later extended to October 26. Subsequently, the flagship carrier extended the flight suspensions first to November 14 and then further to November 30.
In a recent update, the airline stated that it will not be accepting customers with onward connections to Tel Aviv until a later unspecified date. The airline emphasized its commitment to closely monitoring the situation in Israel and maintaining close communication with relevant authorities. A statement on the airline’s website advised that customers with onward connections to Tel Aviv on Emirates flights will not be allowed to travel from their point of origin until further notice.
The backdrop to these decisions is the tragic toll of the conflict, with over 14,100 Palestinians reported to have lost their lives since the war began on October 7, including more than 5,800 children and 3,900 women. The airline urged passengers affected by these flight suspensions to reach out to their booking agents for information on alternatives, refunds, cancellations, or rebooking their flight itineraries.
Prior to the suspension, Emirates operated three daily flights to Israel’s Ben Gurion International Airport (TLV).
