India Bans 16 Pakistani YouTube Channels

India has banned 16 Pakistani YouTube channels, including major news outlets and prominent content creators, accusing them of spreading provocative content and false narratives.

Among those targeted is former cricketer Shoaib Akhtar, whose personal channel has over 3.5 million subscribers. Other major platforms blocked include Dawn News, Samaa TV, ARY News, Geo News, Bol News, and Raftar, affecting a combined audience of around 63 million subscribers across India.

The crackdown follows the tragic Pahalgam terror attack in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) on April 22, which claimed 26 lives.

The move has raised serious concerns about censorship, press freedom, and the free flow of information in the region.

Indian authorities claim that the blocked channels were spreading “provocative, communally sensitive” content aimed at inciting unrest.

The Ministry of Home Affairs stated that these platforms were promoting “false narratives” against India, its military, and security agencies.

Farhan Abro

Hello! My name is Farhan Abro, and I'm based here in Islamabad. My journey in Pakistan's digital media really kicked off when I founded INCPak back in 2012. We built it from the ground up, driven by an entrepreneurial spirit, to be a trusted voice for independent journalism. But while media is a big part of who I am, I'm also shaped by a fascinating mix of other passions. I'm deeply into automotive, which gives me a technical edge, but I also find my artistic expression through landscape photography and music. And I'm always diving into the exciting world of Artificial Intelligence. Bringing all these different worlds together the technical, the creative, the journalistic, and the entrepreneurial—it really colors how I see things and approach every project. It gives me a distinct perspective that I try to bring to everything I share
