Popular Singer and Congress Leader Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead in India’s Punjab on Saturday. According to the details, the incident took place while he was on his way to his village in Mansa, when unidentified gunmen sprayed bullets at this vehicle.
It is pertinent to mention that the incident took place a day after the Punjab Government withdrew his security cover, along with 423 others as part of the Bhagwant Mann-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government’s crackdown on VIP culture.
Sidhu Moose Wala was a famous artist, associated with Punjabi music and Punjabi cinema. He gained immense popularity in 2007 with his track ‘So High’. and his 2018 debut album was ranked at 66 at the Billboard Canadian Albums Chart. In 2020, he was named by The Guardian as among the 50 new artists for 2020′.
Sidhu Moose Wala had contested this year’s Punjab assembly election on a Congress ticket from Mansa and was defeated by AAP candidate Vijay Singla by a huge margin of 63,000 votes. However, he was later sacked over charges of corruption.
Born on June 17, 1993, Sidhu Moose Wala was only 28-years-old at the time of his death.
